TheVanguard Black Canvas

Our in-house art gallery, curated by our Creative Director ShaMyra Sylvester, features stunning works from local Black artists. It sets the tone for the space we’ve cultivated—a rotating showcase that uplifts and celebrates Black voices. This ongoing exhibition is vital because it gives underrepresented artists connected to Mobile, Alabama a platform to share their stories, connect with the community, inspire the next generation of creatives, and monetize their talent. We’re proud to be a hub for Black art, healing, and cultural connection. Cheers to the inaugural cohort of the Vanguard Black Canvas Residency! Thanks for shaping the future of art and culture in Mobile (and beyond), leading the charge in creativity, and boldly reimagining of Black art!
